The Henderson restaurants earned three of the 16 global spots in the 2026 Prix Versailles list, a recognition that puts The Henderson restaurants on the world map for design and dining.
The Henderson, a new luxury landmark designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, draws its exterior form from the bauhinia blossom, Hong Kong’s emblem, translating the flower’s unfolding shape into a fluid facade that plays with light and motion, the firm said.

Prix Versailles recognition
The Prix Versailles, supported by UNESCO, named 16 restaurants worldwide for 2026, and The Henderson restaurants secured three of those slots, the Prix Versailles jury said in its 2026 announcement. The award evaluates design quality alongside innovation, ecological benefits, and cultural continuity.
Three winners from a single building
Three restaurants at The Henderson were selected, a rare sweep that industry designers and restaurateurs say highlights the building’s role as a convergence point for high end dining and immersive spatial design. The three recognized venues are Hana no Kumo, Peridot, and Akira Back, all located within the development’s upper dining precinct, Summit 38.
Below, a closer look at each restaurant and the design and culinary ideas that earned international notice.
The Henderson restaurants: Akira Back
Akira Back sits on the building’s fifth floor and is anchored in a design the team calls a feast symphony, using flowing lines and sculptural volumes to shape the dining room. Floor to ceiling windows bring natural light and city views that change the room’s mood as the day progresses, the restaurant said.

The restaurant is led by Korean American chef Akira Back, whose group has opened restaurants in more than two dozen cities. Akira Back’s menu blends Asian and Western influences, and one signature dish, the AB tuna tart, pairs seared sashimi grade tuna with a thin crisp base, flavored egg yolk sauce, and white truffle oil, the kitchen said.

The Henderson restaurants: Peridot
Peridot occupies space inside Summit 38 and presents what the designers call Natural Futurism, a palette centered on olive green and organic materials. The centerpiece is a hand set field of more than 20,000 bulbs, which the restaurant said animate the room with shifting light and rhythmic movement, set against a streamlined marble bar.

Peridot’s beverage program centers on cocktails and forward looking fermented plant based dishes. The seasonal offering mixes Mexican flavors, such as chili spiced tequila, with items like wild mushroom wontons and a plant based croissant burger, the restaurant said, an approach that aims to show how vegetarian cuisine can be both nourishing and inventive.
The Henderson restaurants: Hana no Kumo
Hana no Kumo (花雲) reinterprets contemporary kaiseki with a performance driven format, chef Ogawa Ken said, offering guests close up views of preparation and plating. The June seasonal menu includes dishes such as peppered small fish with glutinous rice and sea urchin with fresh tofu and turtle shell sauce, the kitchen described.

The restaurant seats 24, with a 12 seat semicircular sushi bar and 12 private dining boxes, a layout the team said was designed to blend intimacy and ritual. Interior details reference Kyoto cherry blossom season with washi paper textures, natural wood tones, and glassy stone elements to create a quiet, natural atmosphere.
What this means for Hong Kong dining
Industry observers say the sweep of honors for The Henderson restaurants underscores how design led hospitality can elevate a new development into a destination, drawing both local diners and international visitors. The recognition from Prix Versailles, backed by UNESCO, further positions the project as an example of cultural and architectural collaboration, the awards jury noted.
For visitors, the three restaurants give varied dining choices under one roof: contemporary fusion at Akira Back, experimental plant forward cuisine at Peridot, and a ceremony focused kaiseki service at Hana no Kumo. Reservations are recommended, the restaurants said.
Correction note: Zaha Hadid Architects is the design firm for The Henderson, the practice confirmed, and Prix Versailles listed the three restaurants among its 2026 global winners.
