IKEA PS 2026 returns after a decade with 44 new pieces that aim to put play back into everyday living, the company said.
The PS series, first launched in 1995 as a testing ground for Democratic Design, came back as IKEA PS 2026 with work from 12 designers and a stated theme of playful functionality. The collection, revealed last week at IKEA’s Democratic Design Days in Älmhult, Sweden, mixes minimalist Scandinavian frames with tactile shapes, bright color, and interactive details.
Guests at the event saw how concepts move from sketch to prototype to mass production, and how small gestures can change daily routines. Maria O’Brian, creative director at IKEA of Sweden, said simplicity does not have to equal boring.

This cream-colored mobile table has rounded lines and discreet castors that make it easy to move from bed to window, or from living room to balcony. The soft tone and easy mobility let it serve as a small surface for coffee, books, or a laptop.
3. Playful table clock, a diving-inspired design
Designer Marta Krupińska gave the clock a rounded, buoyant silhouette and a saturated red finish, a shape that reads like a character from a children s book. The object invites attention and touch, and it reframes timekeeping as a small, cheerful presence in the room.
4. Portable LED lamp, cordless light to carry anywhere
The cordless LED lamp combines metal and glass with a lightweight form and a rechargeable battery, so it can be moved freely without trailing cords. It offers three brightness settings for tasks, ambient reading light, or soft outdoor glow.
5. Inflatable bubble chair, a modern take on air-filled seating
This chair revisits IKEA s long-running interest in air as a material, now realized with two sealed air chambers set inside a chrome tubular frame. It comes with a small pump so owners can watch the fabric expand as the chair inflates, turning assembly into an immediate, tactile experience.
6. Directional floor reflector lamp, rotate for soft halos
The reflector lamp lets users tilt and rotate the head to bounce light across walls, ceilings, or plants, creating diffused halos rather than a hard beam. That flexibility makes ordinary corners feel staged, as if lit by a theater technician adjusting a scene.
7. Bench that invites play, a bench that encourages relaxed poses
Marta Krupińska s bench plays with proportions and cutouts so people are invited to sit, perch, or lean in unexpected ways. The designer said she has seen strangers drop formal posture and begin to play once they sit on this piece.
8. Wooden storage cube, geometric modules as display sculpture
The storage system treats function as visible form, stacking geometric wooden modules into a sculptural focal point. Shelves are adjustable and the units can be assembled by owners to suit storage needs, turning everyday tidying into a small design gesture.
IKEA PS 2026 will go on sale starting May 20 at IKEA stores in Hong Kong and Macau and on the retailer s Hong Kong website, ikea.com.hk, IKEA said.
Pricing and U.S. availability were not announced at the event. IKEA said international rollouts will vary by market and will be announced closer to each region s launch.
