BLACKPINK Makeup Tips: How to Get Jennie’s Look

BLACKPINK makeup tips are the fastest way many fans try to copy Jennie’s beauty looks, but matching the result often takes technique more than product.

Fans and beauty shoppers regularly cite items promoted by BLACKPINK, and when the group uses a product it frequently sells out on retail sites and social platforms such as Sephora, TikTok, and Instagram, according to beauty retailers and social sellers.

Take Jennie Kim, known mononymously as Jennie, as an example. Her makeup favors a natural finish, and even at Chanel’s Spring/Summer 2022 show she wore understated, polished looks rather than heavy staging. That restrained approach makes Jennie-style makeup deceptively hard for the average person to copy.

Jennie does not often experiment with loud eye looks. When she does change things up she usually keeps the eyes simple, adding a clear cat-eye, or a few small face jewels near the eye socket. Where she plays more freely is with blush placement and tone.

She has worn playful faux freckles that read vintage, and she used flushed, under-eye blush during the era of the hit single “How You Like That.” Those are creative looks that highlight placement and color blending more than heavy contouring.

BLACKPINK makeup tips, the Jennie blush approach

Makeup artist Cheryl demonstrated a stepwise method for a sun-kissed, flushed look that channels Jennie without relying on identical products. The trick is placement: a central burst on the nose blending outward toward the cheeks, Cheryl said.

First, Cheryl used liquid eyeliner pens in different tones to dot faux freckles across the bridge of the nose and upper cheeks. She varied the size and depth of the dots so the effect read natural rather than stamped on.

Next, she swept a berry-red cream blush along the nose bridge and blended it out toward both cheeks to create a sunburned flush. The emphasis is on a diffuse edge, not a hard line.

Finishing touches and lip pairing

Finally, Cheryl paired the look with a deeper, saturated berry lipstick to anchor the face. The stronger lip color balances the soft, flushed cheeks and gives the overall look a retro, playful note.

For at-home recreation Cheryl recommends using a cream or liquid blush for the nose and cheeks, a soft-tipped liquid liner for faux freckles, and a lip shade one to two shades deeper than the cheek color. She cautioned that blending is the key to a natural finish.

If you want to try BLACKPINK makeup tips at home, start by practicing placement and blending with inexpensive products before moving on to pricier options seen on social feeds. Cheryl said that the same technique will look convincing with different brands, as long as the color intensity and placement match the method.
