According to Dior, the oval Médaillon motif has been part of the brand’s visual language since the mid 1940s. Dior’s archives show the motif first appeared in the decor of the brand’s 30 Avenue Montaigne boutique in Paris in 1946, and Christian Dior used specially commissioned medallion backed chairs at his 1947 couture show.
Jonathan Anderson’s modern reinterpretation
Jonathan Anderson reinterprets the Médaillon as an oval metal element joined to a delicate bow, which appears as a clasp and as repeated hardware across the collection, Dior said in a statement.
The designer blends couture craftsmanship with everyday utility, applying the Médaillon to leatherwork, metal fittings, and stitched details to create pieces meant for daily use as well as formal occasions.

The Dior Médaillon Flap Bag centers on a sculptural Médaillon clasp, which references the oval motif on the Medallion Chair. The flap bag pairs Rococo detail with modern proportions, Dior said, positioning it as a versatile everyday companion.
The Dior Médaillon Bucket Bag updates a soft, curving silhouette with a removable zipped pouch and an adjustable shoulder strap. The strap is finished with repeated Médaillon details for visual continuity across the collection.
Medallion motif extends across accessories
Beyond bags, the Médaillon appears on belt buckles, earrings, baseball caps, silk scarves, and small leather goods, Dior said, becoming a recurring signature for Jonathan Anderson’s new season.
Dior said the Médaillon pieces will roll out to Dior boutiques and the brand’s online store during the 2026 pre fall season. Shoppers can expect the Médaillon to appear across ready to wear and accessory categories as a through line for the season.
