GU 2026 fall winter collection debuted Monday, marking the brand’s 20th anniversary and the first season led by creative director Francesco Risso.
Risso, who has been a prominent figure in European fashion for years, left his previous post and was announced as GU’s creative director in January, the company said. The label said the 2026 fall winter collection introduces a new design direction centered on the theme of freedom, with six lifestyle concepts that offer complete, mix-and-match outfit proposals.
Six lifestyle concepts for everyday dressing
The 2026 fall winter line is organized into six lifestyle concepts: GU Minimal, which uses black to create a pared-down, highly versatile wardrobe; GU Classic, drawing on 1970s silhouettes and a relaxed vintage feel; GU Playful, featuring bold colors and graphic patterns; GU Utility, focused on functional detailing; GU Sport, which channels 1980s and 1990s athletic motifs; and GU Cozy, centered on comfortable homewear.

How the GU 2026 fall winter collection works
GU said the new direction aims to keep the brand’s signature accessibility while elevating design and material quality. Twenty years into its history, the company framed the season as both a celebration and a reset, encouraging customers to combine pieces across the six concepts.

Risso said clothing’s most compelling quality is its ability to accompany people’s lives. “What I want from this collection is clothes that are useful in everyday life, and that allow you to express yourself freely,” he said. The design brief emphasizes practicality, color, and pattern as tools for personal expression within a familiar wardrobe framework.

The GU 2026 fall winter collection will roll out in stores and online starting in late July, GU said. Customers should expect staged releases across the six concepts so shoppers can build looks over time.
GU encouraged shoppers to watch the rollout closely, saying the season is meant to be playful and effortless, with pieces designed for mixing across lifestyles and occasions.
