Gaikee Ji at Hysan Place Hong Kong Chicken Brother seven course tasting HK$340

Gaikee Ji (Gaikee 雞記飯店) has opened at Hysan Place in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong, offering Asian fusion dishes centered on chicken and a mascot called “Chicken Brother,” designed to make dining a playful lifestyle experience.

The new restaurant centers its concept on chicken, combining Asian fusion cooking with a character called “Chicken Brother” to create a playful dining experience. The space is dominated by bright red tones, character installations, and detailed design elements that set a relaxed, distinctive mood compared with typical restaurants.

The opening features a seven-course tasting menu priced at HK$340 (approximately US$44). A signature is the roasted, dry-aged three-yellow chicken, which is aged, then roasted at high heat to produce crisp skin and moist meat, served with sweet soy and a shrimp chili sauce for layered flavors. The chicken oil crispy rice amplifies the aroma of rendered chicken fat, with rice pan-seared until slightly crisp, mixed with corn and pickles for a rich, savory profile.

Side dishes are designed to be memorable. The menu’s “chicken red three treasures” pairs heat with cheese for a direct, bold flavor. The shochu ginseng chicken soup is slow-cooked for a full-bodied broth, then finished with shochu, the Japanese distilled spirit, to lift the aroma. From chicken liver pate to the dessert called the “Chicken Brother” pirate ship, the tasting menu moves from savory to sweet with a clear rhythm, reorganizing familiar elements rather than piling on novelty.

Visual experience is a major focus. The restaurant has three primary photo spots, including a large Chicken Brother installation and a star-lined floor walkway, with bold, straightforward design that creates clear visual touchpoints. The venue also launched a range of Chicken Brother merchandise, from apparel to lifestyle goods, extending the brand beyond the dining table.

In addition to the tasting menu, the restaurant will offer more than 20 a la carte dishes, extend operating hours, and add music elements. The concept positions the venue not only as a chicken-focused restaurant, but as a combined dining and social space that emphasizes atmosphere and experience.
