Louis Vuitton luggage returns this year with the Horizon Aluminum, a recycled aluminum suitcase designed by Marc Newson to mark the 10th anniversary of the Horizon line, the company said in a statement.

Launched in 2016 and refined over a decade, the Horizon collection is the modern face of Louis Vuitton luggage, and the new Horizon Aluminum ties the line back to the house trunk tradition of the late 19th century, the company said.
Marc Newson, the industrial designer who helped create the original Horizon carry on, collaborated with Louis Vuitton on the new aluminum model to combine durability and recyclability with current traveler needs, according to the brand.
Structure without rivets, built with precision
The Horizon Aluminum is Louis Vuitton luggage that abandons traditional riveted assembly, using an ultra thin frame system and full depth molds to form a single shell without folded seams or rivet points, the company said.
The design is the brand’s first aluminum suitcase without external rivets, a technical achievement the company said required new stamping and mold techniques, and the replacement of external hinges with precision concealed hinges that sit inside the case.
Monogram embossing and functional details
Rather than the shallow grooves common on metal luggage, Newson opted to emboss the classic Monogram pattern directly into the aluminum skin, which the brand said strengthens the shell while serving as a signature visual element.
On practical features, Louis Vuitton luggage includes a wide external pull system to create a flat internal floor for packing, enlarged shock absorbing wheels for smoother rolling, and VVN leather corner accents that add structure and a tactile finish.
Matching vanity case and packing system
Louis Vuitton also introduced a matching vanity case that follows the same technical and aesthetic language as the Horizon Aluminum, the brand said.
The vanity case has flexible interior organization including a base patch pocket, two front slip pockets, and a central compartment with a zippered pocket. The central compartment is removable using a snap, creating a larger standalone storage area, and an elastic strap on the back allows the case to mount to the suitcase pull for transit.
Celebrities put Louis Vuitton luggage in the spotlight
The new Horizon Aluminum has already appeared with public figures on the road, the brand said, including Stray Kids member Felix, singer BamBam, and actor Cate Blanchett, who were photographed using the luggage while traveling.
Louis Vuitton said the Horizon Aluminum aims to offer a durable, recyclable option for luxury travelers while honoring the house tradition of metal trunks for explorers from the 19th century.
