Fendi Baguette 26424 returns as a re edition for fall 2026, remaking the nearly 30 year old Baguette bag to foreground personality as a form of beauty, the brand said.
Under creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri, Fendi’s first fall 2026 collection revisits the Baguette that debuted in 1997, and highlights a specially noted model code, 26424, which the brand says was the first reference number assigned to the style. Fendi said the bag is presented with a softer shape and a more comfortable shoulder strap, updates meant to reaffirm the design’s core spirit and distinct identity.
The collection draws on an image of Marilyn Monroe beyond the red carpet. As quoted in the interview collection “A Beautiful Child,” Monroe said, “My bag was full of cookies with notes inside, which I stole from a restaurant.” Fendi said that image of Monroe as a private, ordinary woman who fed seagulls and kept small comforts in her purse informed the collection’s idea of belonging. The house added that, for many women, a handbag is a repository for personality.
Chiuri did not limit the reinvention to the bag alone, Fendi said. She framed the relaunch as a statement against the pursuit of a single ideal of perfection, asking instead what each person wants to be. The creative director said the collection celebrates a spectrum of temperaments, from passionate and audacious to orderly and understated, arguing that freedom of self is the truest form of beauty.
Fendi Baguette 26424 design details
The Fendi Baguette 26424 Re Edition line includes 20 distinct designs, the house said, and six of those are Milan city exclusives. Each bag draws from the brand archive and carries a unique Re Edition metal plaque, and every piece ships in a custom wooden collector box that mimics an artwork transport crate, with stencil style spray paint, yellow canvas straps, and metal buckles for reinforcement, Fendi said.

Inspiration and meaning
Fendi described the Marilyn Monroe reference as a way to humanize the icon and to emphasize everyday gestures that reveal character. The house said that, in this collection, the bag becomes a stage for individuality, and the Fendi Baguette 26424 is meant to carry the small objects that outline a life.
Chiuri framed the relaunch as a refusal of a single standard of beauty. According to Fendi, the campaign materials and runway presentation highlight contrasts of temperament and style, so that the Baguette functions as a personal signature rather than a uniform sign of status.
Launch and availability
The new Fendi Baguette 26424 Re Edition collection premiered at Milano Design Week 2026, and Fendi said pieces are on view and available for purchase at the Palazzo Fendi Milano flagship. The brand added that each model is numbered and delivered with its Re Edition plaque and collector box.
Fendi said pricing and a full list of materials will be published on the brand’s official website and at the Palazzo Fendi Milano store. The house invited customers and press to view the collection during Milano Design Week showings.
