Tiffany engagement ring fans have a new option, as Tiffany & Co. has reinterpreted its Sixteen Stone collection into a single-diamond engagement ring offered in 2 to 2.99 carats, the company said.

The Sixteen Stone line first appeared as a wedding design in 1959, and has long symbolized nurtured love, Tiffany & Co. said. The new single-diamond interpretation focuses the design on one central gem while keeping the collection’s signature motif.
Design inspiration from cross stitch and textiles
The Sixteen Stone collection was created by jeweler Jean Schlumberger, who translated textile and weaving motifs into jewelry language. Schlumberger used a sewing cross stitch idea, weaving metal lines so diamonds appear delicately linked, which the brand says represents two lives stitched together.
Historically, Sixteen Stone rings were set with 16 round brilliant diamonds alternating with 18K metal X motifs. The house has also offered variations with round sapphires or rubies alternating with diamonds to add color to the design, Tiffany & Co. said.
Putting the focus on one diamond
For 2026, the Sixteen Stone family expands to include a single-diamond engagement ring that centers the visual language on one gem. Tiffany & Co. said this is meant to elevate the motif into a modern classic, offering a more direct and personal way to express commitment.
The new single-diamond ring is set within a distinctive cross stitch prong basket made from six handcrafted 18K yellow gold cross stitch elements that appear to “sew” the diamond onto a platinum band, Tiffany & Co. said. Each ring is crafted in platinum and 18K yellow gold, a construction the company calls technically demanding because of the precision required to balance proportion, light, and finish.
Collection expands with all metal and everyday options
Alongside the single-diamond model, Tiffany & Co. has introduced the first all metal Sixteen Stone ring and several new designs that broaden how the collection can be worn. Tiffany said the additions aim to move the design from occasional high jewelry into pieces suited for daily wear and a range of wardrobes.
