Hotel ICON afternoon tea adds Venchi gelato, seasonal fruit

Hotel ICON afternoon tea returns for summer at the hotel lobby restaurant GREEN, with a new menu, seasonal Japanese fruit desserts, and two scoops of Venchi gelato per guest, the hotel said.

Hotel ICON said the limited “Fruit Artisanal Afternoon Tea” runs from July 13 to Nov. 1, 2026, and highlights Japanese seasonal fruit in five desserts alongside three savory main-course options. The hotel also named Wong Man-sau (黃文首), known as Don, as the new head chef for the menu, and said he blends Japanese, Thai, and Italian influences into the dishes.

The set begins with a green apple and melon salad cup topped with a light foam, designed as a refreshing palate opener. Guests then choose one main from three options: pan-seared salmon with black glutinous rice and lemongrass coconut sauce; sirloin steak with mushrooms and yuzu pepper; or a peach burrata toast with pistachio and basil.

The salmon dish leans toward Thai flavors, with the fish pan-seared until the skin is crisp and the flesh remains tender, the hotel said. The sirloin option pairs tender beef with the bright, mildly spicy tang of yuzu pepper to cut the meat’s richness, and the peach and burrata toast layers creamy cheese with sweet peach, basil, and crunchy pistachio for a lighter choice.

On the dessert side, the series uses five Japanese seasonal fruits: a white peach oolong mousse tart made with Japanese white peach; a Shizuoka melon cake roll; a muscat grape sponge cake; a Kumamoto watermelon panna cotta; and a Miyazaki mango mini cheesecake. Each item is designed to showcase a distinct fruit aroma and color, the hotel said.

A new addition to the set is Venchi Italian gelato, available as two scoops per guest. Flavors on offer include 75 percent extra-dark chocolate and Bronte pistachio, described by the hotel as intensely cocoa-forward and nutty, with a smooth mouthfeel.
