After a 10-year absence, French fashion brand agnès b. returned to Tokyo Fashion Week, part of Rakuten Fashion Week TOKYO for the Fall/Winter 2026 season. ZTYLEZ editors were invited to Tokyo to attend the fashion show on March 17, held at the residence of the French ambassador to Japan, which featured both men’s and women’s collections titled “a Tokyo.” The show opened with a special performance of the classic track “Sexy Boy” by the French electronic duo AIR, with Japanese actor and dancer Aoi Yamada, known for her roles in the film “My Perfect Daily Life” and the Netflix series “First Love,” kicking off the event with her personal style of improvisational dance. Japanese fashion icon Yosuke Kubozuka and several celebrities also attended this significant event.

The fashion show featured a unique remixed version of AIR’s hit “Sexy Boy,” with agnès b. having supported the band since the 1990s. Guests received a limited edition vinyl record produced specifically for the event. The original sleeve design was cleverly updated with shades of pink cherry blossoms, reflecting the color scheme of the exclusive “by R” collection.

Situated in the heart of Tokyo, the French ambassador’s residence is not only a unique landmark steeped in French culture and history but also a profound symbol of the long-standing friendship between France and Japan. This is the first time the residence has been transformed into a fashion show venue; it usually remains closed to the public. Participants were required to show identification to pass security. The show featured 52 outfits from the Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter 2026 collections, commencing with a performance by Aoi Yamada, who has collaborated with agnès b. numerous times.

For half a century, agnès b. has captivated minimalist fashion enthusiasts with its timeless French designs. The brand embodies a love for art and a spirit of freedom. Beyond fashion, agnès b. has also engaged in film production, artistic support, and cultural initiatives concerning environmental conservation, continuously emphasizing independent creativity and humanistic values.

Ms. Agnès has long been inspired by the Japanese spirit of craftsmanship and aesthetic culture. Regarding the Tokyo show, she shared, “Japan holds a very special place in my heart. I admire the attention to detail, the respect for craftsmanship, and the sensitivity to beauty here. The balance between tradition and modernity displayed in Japan has also deeply moved me.”
For Ms. Agnès, the relationship between France and Japan transcends mere market interaction; it is an ongoing cultural dialogue. In light of this enduring connection, her choice to return to Tokyo for a fashion show coinciding with the brand’s 50th anniversary is especially meaningful.

agnès b. consistently focuses on the design philosophy of “everyday wear,” centering its creativity around the idea of appreciating the essence of daily life. The fashion show featured 52 outfits from the Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter 2026 collections, continuing agnès b.’s signature design language: sleek tailoring, understated colors, and a balance of practicality. The clothing does not emphasize ostentatious silhouettes, but rather showcases a timeless style attitude through its details and proportions, closely aligned with everyday aesthetics. As Agnès herself stated, “The diverse passersby on the streets have always been a crucial source of inspiration for me. I hope my clothing creations can reflect the daily lives of everyone through urban crowds.”
